let's talk wedding ceremonies - tips & tricks for a great experience and for getting gush worthy photos

The ceremony - it’s the main event and you want it to be as perfect as it can be. As a wedding photographer who’s witnessed numerous ceremonies of all sorts, here are a few tips and tricks I’ve collected over the years on how to make your ceremony go smoothly for you, your guests, and for getting those “Pinterest” worthy photos.

ORIENTATION TO THE SUN

This is a big one. For getting the best photos, I always recommend putting the sun behind your wedding altar. back lighting you ceremony will make for dramatic, and well balanced shadowing, which will in turn make your photos more pleasing. If your ceremony will be mid day, especially in summer when overhead sun lasts for a long time, opt for a shaded ceremony or up against a, what I like to call, statement tree.

TIME OF DAY

The time of day you plan your ceremony really matters when it comes to getting optimal photos. If you can timing it when the sun is not directly overhead is ideal. If you’re having a summer wedding it’s even better to plan it for closer to golden hour for beautiful photos.
